After two decades of service in the U.S. Navy, navigating the high seas and operating across continents, our founder retired to the quiet, familiar streets of his childhood neighborhood. The sights and sounds of his old hometown welcomed him, but his heart was forever marked by his time overseas. As a young boy, he had loved traditional American sports—baseball, football, and basketball—but it was his deployments around the world that had introduced him to new games and new cultures. Rugby in Australia, cricket in England, and soccer in Spain—each of these sports became a doorway into understanding not just new games, but different ways of life.

In his travels, he saw something fascinating: how sports could transcend language barriers, bring people together, and offer a sense of belonging. He’d seen a quiet kid on a Japanese playground, usually the last one picked for baseball, suddenly light up when a rugby ball was tossed his way. There was something powerful in that transformation—an underdog, once overlooked, becoming a hero on a different field.
As he settled back into civilian life, he realized that many of the kids in his neighborhood had limited exposure to these diverse sports. The narrow focus on traditional American games often meant that other sports were simply unknown. He couldn’t help but think of how many kids might shine in a sport that wasn’t even on their radar.
Thus, was born Scrum & Wickets—an online shop for all sports dedicated to making high-quality custom uniforms and gear accessible to kids and parents everywhere.
