After two decades of service in the U.S. Navy, navigating the high seas and operating across continents, our founder retired to the quiet, familiar streets of his childhood neighborhood. The sights and sounds of his old hometown welcomed him, but his heart was forever marked by his time overseas. As a young boy, he had loved traditional American sports—baseball, football, and basketball—but it was his deployments around the world that had introduced him to new games and new cultures. Rugby in New Zealand, cricket in England, and soccer in Spain—each of these sports became a doorway into understanding not just new games, but different ways of life.

In his travels, he saw something fascinating: how sports could transcend language barriers, bring people together, and offer a sense of belonging, no matter where you were from. He’d seen a quiet kid on a Japanese playground, usually the last one picked for baseball, suddenly light up when they tossed a rugby ball his way. There was something powerful in that transformation—an underdog, once overlooked, becoming a hero on a different field.
As he settled back into civilian life, he realized that many of the young athletes in his neighborhood, and even his own children, had limited exposure to these diverse sports. The high-cost and scarcity of equipment and the narrow focus on traditional American games often meant that other sports were out of reach. He couldn’t help but think of how many kids, like those he’d seen around the world, might shine in a sport that wasn’t even on their radar.
Thus, was born Scrum & Wickets—an online shop for all sports dedicated to making high-quality, affordable, custom uniforms and gear accessible to kids and parents everywhere, regardless of location or economics.
Scrum & Wickets isn’t just about selling gear—it’s about sharing a love of sports, building bridges between cultures, and giving every kid a chance to discover their potential.
