After two decades of operating around the globe while serving in the U.S. Navy, Mike Toone retired and returned home to his old familiar neighborhood. His childhood had been filled with traditionally American sports: baseball, football, and basketball, but overseas deployments allowed him to experience global sports: the camaraderie of cricket in the United Kingdom, the unity of rugby in Bahrain, and the teamwork of volleyball in Greece.
Inspired by how participating in these sports bridged cultures and forged friendships, he teamed up with some old service pals and opened “Scrum & Wickets”, an online factory direct team sports uniform provider dedicated to offering affordable high-quality custom sportswear. The dream is that parents and kids alike, regardless of location or economics, have the chance to explore new sports and feel connected to a broader world.
